Filling honey — isn't there an easier way?
Many beekeepers use hobbocks as practical storage containers for honey. Depending on size and fill level, a full container can weigh several dozen kilograms — making precise filling into jars a physically demanding and time-consuming task. Manual filling setups can also cause dripping, depending on the valve type and product properties. Achieving a consistent fill weight across many jars requires considerable experience and care.
There are additional challenges to consider. Honey can crystallise over time depending on its variety and composition. If it is no longer sufficiently fluid, controlled and gentle reheating may be necessary. Due to its high viscosity, honey residue can also remain when emptying a hobbock. Valves, seals and other product-contact components should be designed to allow thorough and reliable cleaning.
A suitable honey filling machine can make a significant difference here. Precise, controlled dosing ensures consistent fill volumes — even with honey’s demanding flow behaviour.
